Vegan Eats • Baked

I have wanted to visit this cafe for ages and only happened to end up in here by chance. My friends dog pulled us in after they saw another dog they wanted to sniff (thanks Nacious). Before I knew it I had checked out the menu and spotted a little table just perfect for two, so I ordered brunch.

I love the modern but simple look of the place, it’s very scandi and minimal. It seems like the perfect place to take your laptop and get some aesthetically pleasing photos for the gram.

My Order

I ordered the vegan breakfast and an iced matcha latte with almond milk and vanilla. The breakfast came with everything and was pretty balanced and healthy as far as a full English?goes. The breakfast included: tomato and red pepper veggie sausages, mushrooms, corn fritter, beans, avocado, grilled tomato, granary toast with vegan spread.

You can check out their weekday & weekend menu here.

The breakfast was colourful, full of flavour, perfectly cooked and well presented. I think this may be my favourite breakfast I’ve ever had. I like that the sausages weren’t the plain bog standard ones and packed plenty of flavour with the delicious sweet red pepper. The sweetcorn fritter and avocado were lovely additions that brought a variety of different tastes and textures that some breakfasts are lacking.

The iced matcha latte looked beautiful and came with a cute paper straw. Looking out for the environment while being cute and practical, I am all for it. The latte was a lovely accompaniment to the breakfast and gave me a natural burst of energy, it also cooled me down on a stifling day.

Vegan Options

If a full breakfast isn’t your thing, you want something smaller or want to know about other options available you could have the corn fritters with no soured cream, coconut pistachio porridge, veggie sausage sandwich, toast, cauliflower rice salad, vegan toast and vegan ciabatta. They have so many great breakfast/lunch options, more than other cafes I’ve seen that aren’t 100% vegan.

They have a wide variety of drinks including fancy teas, coffees & juices. You can choose between 3 plant mylks?(soya, oat & almond). They even have a virgin bloody mary for the ultimate sober Sunday brunch experience. I will definitely be trying that next time! As someone who has been sober for 5 years, it’s so great to see something like this as most associate bloody marys or bellinis with weekend brunch.

You can check out the drinks menu here.

Dog Friendly

Nacious and I were made to feel so welcome by the staff and customers. This, as well as the incredible food, service and location, really puts this place over the top. They had 2 other dogs upstairs and no one seemed to mind and were happy to give them fuss and treats.

We look forward to seeing you and your four-legged friend but do ask that all dogs are kept on leads and off furniture. Water bowls and dog menus available.

We both had a great time here and will definitely be back. I will have to ask about the doggy menu next time as that’s adorable and I would love to see what they have available. Everyone deserves a little treat on the weekend. It’s so nice that you and your dog get that and more at Baked.

Overall Baked absolutely blew me away and this is now one of my fav spots in Hove. I will definitely be back and I’m sure back with Nacious in toe when I look after him next.
